Mrs Roberts is a lone parent to her two year old son living in the West Midlands. During the past few years Mrs Roberts has had some very traumatic times which had a significant impact on her finances as well as on her mental health for which she is now receiving professional support and prescribed medication.
Her husband served in the armed forces and since leaving has suffered from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and also has had to hear that six of his former colleagues committed suicide.
After the birth of her son, Mrs Roberts husband then unfortunately suffered a brain haemorrhage. After recovering he then found it hard to deal with his personal and financial problems and left the family home, he has since been relying on support from military hostels for veterans.
Having now moved address, Mrs Roberts has sought financial advice as she is unable to clear the outstanding arrears at the previous property on her benefit income.
An application to the Severn Trent Trust Fund was made and Mrs Roberts was awarded a grant of £996.81 to clear her charges at her previous address.
The Trust also helped Mrs Roberts apply for the Big Difference Scheme, the Severn Trent social tariff which allows customers to get up to 90% off their water bill. This has allowed Mrs Roberts to manage her ongoing charges within her budget and help put her back into a position of financial strength.
