The Big Difference Scheme Helps After Time Of Tragedy

Life is full of twist and turns and at times you can be hit unexpectedly, but there is always help around the corner.

It was approximately 8 months ago that Mr James* sadly lost his partner. Being self-employed and met with this sudden grief, he started to find it difficult to cope with bills, one being his water bill. Mr James had never been in a situation like this before and was having to pay £50 per month for his water bill.

Mr James found out about the Big Difference Scheme through a friend. Prior to this he was unaware that there were schemes like the Big Difference available to assist with paying water bills. He wasted no time researching the scheme online. Initially he felt it was too good to be true, however, upon reading the criteria Mr James realised this wasn’t the case. He completed an online application form and sent it into the Severn Trent Trust Fund (who administer the scheme in partnership with Severn Trent Water). It wasn’t long until he was met with the news that he had been accepted on to the scheme.

Overcome with the news, Mr James said, “The scheme has been amazing for me during a difficult time in my life. As a result of The Big Difference Scheme and the Severn Trent Trust Fund team I have been reimbursed £150, of which £50 now pays my water bill for the year.”

The Severn Trent Trust Fund have already helped over 16,000 people** gain a reduction of up to 90% off their annual average water bill, through the Big Difference Scheme.

Mr James is very grateful he got to find out about the scheme, commenting; “The Big Difference really helped me when I needed it. I want others to be able to benefit from the scheme too.” It is a simple process where sacrificing an hour can lead to savings that will last a year.
