Who can apply to the Trust?

How will the Trust deal with my application?

When we receive your application, we will write to you, by return of post acknowledging receipt and provide you with a unique reference number.

If I have a query can I speak to a real person?

Yes, we do not use an automated voice service; one of our friendly staff is always available to take your call, contact us now

Can I apply online?

Only if you are making an application through a referral agency, our online application facility is only for money advisers or referral agents working on a client’s behalf.

Do I qualify for a grant?

You must be a customer of Severn Trent Water. There is no way to automatically qualify for a grant. All applications are considered on an individual basis.

Does any grant I receive have to be repaid?

No, we provide charitable grants on a discretionary basis – these do not have to be repaid.

Can the Trust help me with anything else other than water charges?

In some cases the trust can also help towards other essential household bills or costs that you cannot manage.

How do you decide who to help?
 All applications are considered on an individual basis, we use the information you give us on your application form to help us decide.

How will I get any money you agree to give to me?
The money will be paid directly into your account with Severn Trent Water.

Do I have to pay back any money you give me?
No, our aim is to help give you a fresh start and a manageable budget.

Can I apply for help with my credit card debt?

No, the Trust cannot help with the following:

  • Court fines, catalogue debts, credit cards, personal loans or other forms of borrowing
  • Social Fund loans/benefit overpayments/Tax Credit overpayments now being reclaimed.

How often can I apply?

If after a period of two years since being given a grant, your financial situation has deteriorated further, you may make another application to the Trust.

If the Trust is not able to give you a grant, you may apply again after six months.

How will I know if my application has been successful?

As soon as your application has been assessed we will write to let you know of the decision.
